If you are under 18 years of age, you must have held your permit for 180 days. If you are over 18, you do not need a permit.
If you are under 16.5 then you must have COMPLETED a driver's education course and be able to bring the completion certificate to the test. This can be completed through either a commercial or public school, or through a state approved parent-taught driver safety program. If you are over 16.5, then you do not need a driver's education course.
